Randall & Payne LLP have appointed ex-Grant Thornton senior partner, Patrick Brooke to support them in their plans for growth. Patrick's role as an independent non-executive will be to provide an objective viewpoint, challenging and contributing to the firm's strategy.
Ian Selwood, a partner of Randall & Payne LLP, commented "It is easy to get bogged down in your own business and we are as guilty of this as any other business. We regularly assist clients as independent facilitators, bringing out and contributing to their knowledge, suggesting and agreeing actions to produce results. We are following our own advice and appointing Patrick who has enjoyed a successful career growing his own firm. We have known of and respected Patrick over the years, and it is great to be working closely with him now."
During his time at Grant Thornton, Patrick oversaw the growth of the Cheltenham office which, under his guidance twice won awards as top marketing and sales office. He also helped develop international connections, bringing in many flagship clients.
In the non-profit-making sector, he is currently a Trustee of Cotswold Hospital Radio, a member of the Cheltenham Art Gallery and Museum Development Trust, a Founding Member of the Honourable Company of Gloucestershire. Previously he held the post of Council member at the University of Gloucestershire and at Cheltenham College and was Chair of the Audit Committee for Cheltenham Festivals. Until his retirement, Patrick was a regular broadcaster on BBC Radio Gloucestershire covering financial matters, and has presented seminars and workshops on international business issues both in the UK and mainland Europe and appeared on BBC TV’s “Points West” commenting on financial matters.
Patrick commented "I have spent my whole working life in the accounting and advisory market and am excited at the prospect of helping Randall & Payne shape their business for the future. I have been impressed by their desire to manage their own affairs just as robustly as they do their clients. Making the changes necessary to be successful in this competitive market can be tough but I see in the partners a real enthusiasm for creating a business that will accept the challenges and achieve their ambitious goals."
