Stroud business leaders will get the chance to grill local politicians on a number of contentious issues at the Five Valleys Business Lunch on Tuesday, February 16th. As Gordon Brown moves the country towards a general election, a panel of politicians representing Labour, the Conservatives, the Green Party and UKIP will face some tough questions from the floor.
The Five Valleys Business Lunch Club is a quarterly event organised jointly by Wycliffe College, the leading private school in the Five Valleys; Randall & Payne LLP, Chartered Accountants, business and tax advisors; and Rickerbys LLP, commercial and private client solicitors. The aim is to provide a forum for local businesses to share knowledge and views and a platform from which the rights, values and needs of a healthy entrepreneurial sector can be championed.
With opinion polls narrowing the gap between Labour and the Conservatives, the Five Valleys event will give Labour MP David Drew, Conservative candidate Neil Carmichael, Green Party candidate Martin Whiteside and a UKIP representative the opportunity to secure support from the Stroud business community.
Following the Question Time format, the event will be chaired by local journalist Vernon Howard. With close to ninety Stroud business leaders signed up for the event it’s certain to throw up some interesting questions about the economy, the local business landscape and each of the party’s election pledges to UK businesses. |
