A day in the life of an admin trainee

Not all our trainees are in accountancy based roles… This is Charlotte who is on a Business Administration Apprenticeship and is part of the ‘behind-the-scenes’ Admin team.

Charlotte Gallagher joined the Admin team as a trainee over two years ago. Her aim was to get qualified and begin a career whilst gaining valuable on the job experience, after a brief time in retail after her A’levels. She finds the firm ‘’very supportive when balancing work with study’’; completing coursework during a set time each week and catching up regularly with her manager.Last September, Charlotte achieved her Advanced Level 2 Apprenticeship in Business Administration and is now aiming to work towards the Level 3 Apprenticeship qualification.A typical day…Her time is typically spent booking in client records, ensuring the scanning is up to date and assisting with HR tasks. Charlotte organised the staff Christmas party after her first year with the firm – which was a huge success! One of Charlotte’s key projects concerns the firm’s engagement letters which are sent out to each client before we start to work for them. This is a sizeable task because every client’s letter of engagement needs to be checked to ensure it is up to date. If not, the letter needs to be reissued.Charlotte is involved in our support of many staff wellness awareness days throughout the year. In October 2017, we took part in ‘Wear it Pink’ for Breast Cancer Now, where the partners surprised all staff by dressing in pink aprons, wigs and tutus whilst circulating the office with a tea trolley laden with cakes to raise money for the cause. This was great material for social media! See our Facebook page for the photo and video evidence https://www.facebook.com/RandallPayneAccs/In addition, Charlotte assisted Randall & Payne’s support of stress and mental health awareness days throughout 2017 and is continuing to do so in 2018. She has put forward a proposed programme to support more causes, including ‘Wear Blue Friday’ for men’s health, ‘World Asthma Day’ and ‘National Migraine and Headache Awareness Month’.“I enjoy researching charities and raising money and awareness for important causes. I particularly enjoyed organising the ‘Wear it Pink’ day which was a lot of fun and all the partners really got behind it helping us to raise over £120” says Charlotte.
Looking to the future…Charlotte enjoys the relaxed and friendly but hard working environment at Randall & Payne. She has her sights set on completion of the Level 3 Apprenticeship in Business Admin whilst taking on increased responsibilities.Jo Byrd, HR Director comments “Charlotte is a credit to the Admin team. She has a fabulous ‘can-do’ attitude which is just what we look for in our trainees”.If you are interested in being considered for this year’s trainee intake please contact us on 01242 776000 or email HR@randall-payne.co.uk
