Another successful Budget Day event for Randall & Payne

Randall & Payne hosted their sixth Budget Day event at Kingsholm Stadium, packed with attendees from Gloucestershire’s biggest and most influential businesses.

We were delighted to welcome over 100 delegates from across the region to our sixth Budget Day event. Representatives from businesses and organisations such as BPE Solicitors, GFirst LEP and The Growth Hub joined us to view the Autumn Budget live and debate the key points from the new Budget.

After lunch, Rob Case, our Head of Tax, opened the proceedings with his initial thoughts on the event, before Julie Kent from the Pied Piper Appeal, our nominated charity, took to the stage to talk about the fantastic work that they are doing.

Will Abbott, our Head of Business Advisory, spoke briefly about our recent success at the British Accountancy Awards, where we won the Client Project of the Year award for our work with WHC Hire Services, and touched on the effect that the Budget may have on local businesses.

Tax experts Rob, James Geary (Corporate Tax Manager) and Trish Clements (Private Client Tax Manager) then gave their predictions for the statement.

Following the Chancellor’s statement, Managing Partner Tim Watkins discussed the potential wins and pitfalls in this year’s Budget with our attendees, as everyone gave their views via our voting buttons. Our expert panel, which included Rob, Will, and Chris Gibbs (The Growth Hub), gave their thoughts on the room’s reaction.

As always, we like to have a bit of fun with the Budget and ran a sweepstake to see who could guess how long it would take ‘Spreadsheet Phil’ to deliver his statement. Jonathan Dunley was the closest and won a bottle of Champagne. We also held a raffle to raise funds for the Pied Piper Appeal and we are delighted to announce that we raised £435, pushing us closer to our goal of £10,000 for the playground at Belmont School.

It was great to have so many Gloucestershire businesses joining us for the Autumn Budget, and over the next few weeks, we will be watching closely to see just how the Budget will affect our clients over the coming months. We’d also like to thank all of the businesses that spoke to the media while at the event, including David Owen from GFirst LEP, Nick Eden from Cloud Tamers, Ian Leitch from Hewer FM, Peter Wharton from MF Freeman, Andrina Nisbet from Quayside Wealth Management and Simon Kershaw from SK Cooling and Heating.

If you’re unsure about how about the new Budget may affect you, either from a business or personal perspective, why not book a one-to-one session with one of our experts? Our sessions start from Monday 27 November – for further information, contact Jo Kline on jo.kline@randall-payne.co.uk
