Award winning trainee talent at Randall & Payne

Trainees are the life blood of our business, so we are particularly proud when they go up against their peers and win awards to recognise their talents.

Randall & Payne, Cheltenham Accountants, are proud to be a training firm, recognised and approved by the ICAEW, ACCA, and AAT, and each year we commit to recruiting a number of trainees who join us straight from A levels or after university. Most will train for technical roles like accountants and auditors, but we also have a trainee in our admin team. We feel that this ongoing commitment to bringing in new trainees allows us to play our part in the wider community, as well as ensuring we continue to build our already talented workforce, sustaining and growing our business.

We offer an excellent training programme and many of our past trainees have gone on to achieve great things. Some are now partners and managers, whereas others are well on their way to developing successful careers here, making a real and valuable contribution to the business and adding value for our clients.

Last year Gina Gardner, Trainee Corporate Tax Accountant, was awarded ‘AAT Rising Star’. We are delighted that Gina has now been shortlisted for the 2018 awards, this time in the ‘AAT Professional Member of the Year – MAAT’ category.

Gina summarises the basis of her nomination by saying, “In my current role I’ve demonstrated outstanding achievements having been given the opportunity to take on greater responsibilities than is ordinarily expected of a trainee. This has included holding independent client meetings, winning new business, going above and beyond in order to provide a high standard of customer service, all whilst committed to continuing in my studies. My commitment to training is indisputable as I’m the first in the firm to attempt the new joint ACA/CTA programme, which I am on track to complete by the age of 23.”

The winners will be announced at the AAT Annual Conference early next month. We will have everything crossed for Gina on the night!

Our differentiator to other training firms is our encouragement of early client contact, developing skills and confidence for the trainee. We also support all our staff by providing wider opportunities for regular personal development and non-technical learning.

As well as a great training package, our trainees have the opportunity to undertake meaningful work in a friendly environment, where they are valued and supported. We believe in fun, a healthy work-life balance and wellbeing as much as hard work and delivering excellence to our clients.
