Staggering £10,000 raised by Randall & Payne sponsored firewalk

Last month, three Stroud based charities came together for what’s possibly the shortest, hottest and scariest challenge of the year… To walk bare foot on a bed of hot coals!

The firewalk was held with the stunning backdrop of Stonehouse Court Hotel on the evening of 22 October. The rain cleared just in time for the event which was a huge success with 33 participants testing their nerve. Not only was this a great way to transform fear into something positive and gain a real sense of achievement, but participants also collectively raised a staggering £10,000 for three great local charities, Allsorts, The Door and The Nelson Trust. This money will make such a difference to these local charities.

When Andy Jarrett approached Will Abbott during the planning stages of the event, although we have our own corporate charity, he was happy to offer sponsorship which helped with the printing of promotional banners and flyers. Randall & Payne was formed in Stroud back in 1879 and the firm was based in Rodborough Court for the best part of 50 years.

Will Abbott said “It was inspiring to see so many people stepping out of their comfort zones to raise much needed funds for three wonderful charities, who do so much to support children, families and adults in the Five Valleys. Randall & Payne have a long history in Stroud, and we were very pleased to sponsor this event to help ensure its success. Well done to everyone who took part and helped in raising such a fantastic amount.”
