New signings to the Randall & Payne team

During lockdown we celebrated a number of key promotions within the firm and recruitment has continued throughout to enable us to continue to provide timely support to our clients.

We believe in rewarding talent from within and proudly announced a number of key promotions in July, both at Director and managerial levels. They are all experts in their specialisms and have worked hard over many years, have risen to the recent challenges we are all facing and have been key to delivering a seamless service for our clients.

Managing Partner, Tim Watkins, commented: “The promotions are part of us changing the way we work and restructuring our teams to improve communication between our service specialisms in order to offer a more holistic service to our clients. We have a wide breadth of expertise and the knowledge and the ability to provide informed business advisory support to our clients has never been more important.”

New signings

We have continued to recruit at all levels across the firm. There were noticeably more CVs, particularly for the trainee applications. The managers who were involved embraced the new world and the interviews were carried out via video call. In fact they found the process worked well, being able to see the candidate along with the visual cues you would experience as part of a standard face-to-face interview.

Three trainees have recently joined our accounts and tax teams; George Roberts, Simeon Jones and Joe Lock. As well as an audit semi-senior, Saman Nahimalegedara, who spoke very positively about the interview and on-boarding process:

“Committing to a new company without meeting your new team face-to-face is a big decision, especially if you’ve only met two of them on a video call! The process went smoothly and quickly. My interviewers, Ben and Nathan, took the time to introduce themselves and explain the company culture and steps taken to safeguard employees during this difficult time.”

Saman has joined whilst half the firm are working in the office and the other half are working remotely on a weekly rotation…

“My induction included the different processes and procedures, including the new health and safety rules. I was impressed by the steps taken to safeguard employees and the flexibility given to employees when working. Having experienced a few on-boarding processes, my recent experience has so far been the best yet.”

We are excited to introduce our newest recruit, who has joined us as Client Director for our Audit team. Ryan Moore arrives following a number of years’ experience in the Big 4 and at BDO where he led complex audits for clients as a Senior Manager. In addition to this, Ryan sits on the Disciplinary & Regulatory Committee for the ACCA and was recently recognised on the list of ICAS Top 100 Young CA’s 2020. Ryan is looking forward to the opportunity to add value to his new clients by delivering strong audit insights to Boards.

Commenting on his new challenge, Ryan said, “The South West is such a vibrant and fast growing business community and the role presented a compelling opportunity to work with fast growing businesses and alongside a fantastic team. It’s a great time to be joining such an ambitious firm and to be working in audit, which is an industry that is currently in the spotlight and being redefined. I’m looking forward to adding value to the firm, our clients and the wider businesses community.”

During the ongoing pandemic, accountants are needed by businesses now more than ever, so we are glad to be busy supporting our clients, answering their questions, and offering crucial advice around cashflow and forecasting. Having the skills and teams in place to do this, no matter what circumstances we find ourselves in, is key.

If you are interesting in joining our team, please send your CV to careers@randall-payne.co.uk for consideration in the future.
