Randall & Payne scoops prestigious accolade at British Accountancy Awards

We’re delighted to have been awarded Best Client Project of the Year at the British Accountancy Awards, otherwise known as ‘the Oscars of the accountancy industry’.

We won the Best Client Project of the Year award for our work with prominent local business WHC Hire Services, and received the award at a glittering ceremony held at the London Hilton on Park Lane, which was attended by over 800 guests from the UK’s leading accountancy firms.

WHC Hire Services initially turned to our business advisory team to develop a strategic plan that would drive sustainable and profitable growth. But to ensure that the strategy became a reality, we developed a partner programme that utilised a range of experts from across the business to create a suite of on-demand services to help the Tewkesbury plant hire company to achieve the success of its three-year plan.

It was this multi-faceted approach to the project that captured the attention of the judges, who were particularly impressed by the way that we demonstrated our position as a trusted advisor to WHC.

Will Abbott, partner and head of business advisory, was delighted with the result: “I’m thrilled we have received the award for Best Client Project at such a renowned industry awards evening. We decided to enter the awards as we felt our thinking and approach on the WHC project was market leading. The fact that our peers in the accountancy industry have, out of all the projects submitted from across the UK, recognised it as such, is a tremendous coup – not just for my team, but for the wider firm.

“Thanks to the expertise of the Randall & Payne team, we’ve been able to help guide WHC on the right road to achieving their ambitious targets, and we look forward to supporting the company in the future as it continues to develop and grow,” concluded Will.

News of the accolade comes as our business advisory team have become approved coaches for the Gloucestershire’s Accelerated Impact Network Support (GAINS) programme, a new initiative of business support for high-growth organisations in the county. Run by the University of Gloucestershire and funded by the European Regional Development Fund, local companies can receive subsidised business coaching from Will and Richard to help them drive their businesses forward.

We were also shortlisted for the Audit Team of the Year award alongside the cream of UK accountancy practices, which was eventually won by Haysmacintyre, a London Top 50 accountancy firm.

“To even be shortlisted alongside numerous Top 50 firms is a huge achievement, and recognises the hard work and clever thinking that our team are known for throughout the county on a national scale,” said Russel Byrd, partner and head of audit
