The Gloucestershire Business Awards have been an integral part of the county’s business calendar for over 20 years and continue to shine a light on the best and brightest companies and entrepreneurs in the area – from start-ups to high turnover operations. We will be hosting a Winners’ Dinner for the 2018 winners next month which will be a chance for the former recipients from all different sectors to mingle and learn more about what everyone has been up to since the ceremony last year. In the run up to the dinner, which takes place on February 7, we will be looking back on our former winners and why they impressed the judges.
Batten & Allen – Winner of Business of the Year 2018

- Formed in 1972 when two friends started a toolmaking business in the back garden shed.
The winning entry:
Batten & Allen experienced 35 per cent growth in the 12 months prior to the award entry period. This growth had come from significant investment in new technology, as well as in new marketing capability in order to develop overseas sales.
The company exports 85 per cent of the products manufactured at its Cotswolds factory and sees further growth in those overseas markets.
a new innovation process has been implemented to encourage the development of new ideas for the future and there is an increased focus on staff engagement.
They recognise that the key to ongoing success is their people and are making real efforts to develop the next generation of talented individuals for their future.
