Every two years the staff at Randall & Payne nominate and vote for a new local charity, which is followed by presentations from staff representing the top three voted for charities.
This year, Scoo-B-Doo won the final vote after a very heart-felt presentation from three staff members sharing their personal experience of the charity; a mother to premature twins, a grandmother to a premature grandson and uncle to a premature nephew.
Scoo-B-Doo was established in 1982 by a small group of grateful parents, doctors and nurses. Today, the registered charity is still run entirely by volunteers and supports the Neonatal Unit at Gloucestershire Royal Hospital in caring for sick and premature babies from Gloucestershire and beyond.
Over 80% of the equipment used on the ward every day has been funded by Scoo-B-Doo, helping to ensure the babies are given the best possible care. 100% of every donation goes to help the wards tiny patients and their families.
The NHS provides a building and pays for all of the dedicated medical staff as well as the life-saving drugs used on the ward. With the NHS under constant financial pressure, the money Scoo-B-Doo raises is vital in supporting the service and that is critical to the survival of these vulnerable patients.
Staff at Randall & Payne will be kicking off their fundraising for the charity with a sponsored walk from the office based in Shurdington to the neonatal unit at Gloucestershire Royal Hospital in Gloucester which is seven miles. It will take place on the morning of Sunday 7 October 2018 and the walkers will be greeted at the unit by some of the neonatal team and parents for some well-deserved tea and cake. If you would like to show your support with a donation please visit our JustGiving page titled Randall & Payne step out for Scoo-B-Doo.
We are delighted to be supporting this amazing local charity which is close to our hearts and we will be organising various fundraising activities over the course of working alongside Scoo-B-Doo.
