Sage and Government Gateway changes

If you are currently using Sage software you need to be aware of changes being made to the Government Gateway next month because older versions of the software will no longer be compatible.

The Government Gateway is a secure online account where individuals and businesses can register for and access government online services. Your Sage software integrates with the gateway for online submissions such as:
  • VAT Returns
  • EC Sales lists
  • CIS Returns
  • CIS subcontractor validations
  • RTI submissions
  • IR secure mailbox

The current gateway service is due to be decommissioned on 14 February 2018 and replaced by a new system developed by HMRC.

How this affects you depends on the Sage software and version you’re using.

Sage 50 Accounts

Sage 50 Accounts v24

If you currently use Sage 50 Accounts v24, your software is already compliant with the new gateway. You can continue to make online submissions from your software as normal after 14 February 2018.

Sage 50 Accounts v23 or below

If you currently use Sage 50 Accounts v23 or below, to continue to make online submissions directly from your software, you’ll need to upgrade to Sage 50 Accounts v24.

If you decide to continue running an older version of Sage 50 Accounts, when the Gateway closes, you can still submit manually through the HMRC website.
