Looking back at Young Business Person of the Year George Tatham-Losh

At the 2019 Gloucestershire Business Awards, George Tatham-Losh scooped the award of Young Business Person of the Year. We find out the secret behind George’s success and how he’s become one of the most influential Managing Directors in the county.

We caught up with George of Move Sales & Lettings to find out what he’s been up to since winning his award and here’s what he had to say:

“Since winning Young Business Person of the Year, the business has grown from strength to strength despite the pandemic. When we first launched, we promised to offer a new and fresh approach to property sales and lettings. This approach, combined with investment in technology and handpicking what we consider to be the best property professionals in the area, has seen us prosper.

“Due to our expansion, we have purchased and opened a new office in Clarence Parade, Cheltenham. This investment in the town shows confidence in the strength and future of the property market in the county.

“Winning Young Business Person of the Year pushed me to lead by example and inspire others to be their very best.”

A reminder of why George won Young Business Person of the Year 2019

Key business points:
  • George is Managing Director of Move Sales & Lettings is and was 29 when he won this award
  • Move is one of the fastest growing residential property businesses in the region
  • Established in 2013 as an online agency, now with two offices; the original in Cheltenham and the second opened in Spring 2018 in Gloucester
The winning entry:

George won this accolade for taking a business from being a start-up, online only agency to becoming a business with two branches that covers the entire county and is one of the most recognised and respected brands in its field.

The financial performance of a sales and lettings agency is inextricably linked to the level of confidence and activity in its local marketplace. Notwithstanding the fact that market conditions have been challenging, Move prospered and continued to expand. The level of profit is better than would ordinarily be expected for a business of this kind due to a combination of investment in technology and innovative lean processes.

A focused, driven and ambitious business leader, George’s knowledge of the Gloucestershire property market is widely regarded as being second to none, which is why so many of Move’s clients come to him for advice in managing their property portfolios. He is so confident that he can improve the yield on each client’s portfolio that he offers a money back guarantee if this does not happen. It is a measure of his success that he has never had to pay out on this guarantee.

George is a firm believer in growing a business at a manageable rate, so an exceptionally high standard of service is consistently delivered. This brings the business benefits with as much as 80% of their new business coming from recommendation.
